In 2025, the National Technical Committee of Auto Standardization of China released the mandatory national standard GB 45672‑2025 for Automotive Emergency Call System (AECS). Since the release of the standard, the industry has confronted diversified options for vehicle‑mounted transmission protocols and high flexibility in R&D selection, which raises new requirements and challenges for the universality of test solutions. Meanwhile, it triggers considerations over the consistency between laboratory test conditions and commercial deployment.
R&S, Yuemeng Daokang and Quectel have carried out joint verification work. Systematic selection coverage is achieved for mainstream vehicle‑mounted transmission protocols in the industry. Full‑link actual tests are conducted for multiple general protocols, establishing two complete links: from Quectel automotive communication modules to professional test platforms, and from Quectel automotive communication modules to commercial deployment platforms. This tri‑party collaborative verification sets a unified benchmark for R&D design, standardized testing and large‑scale commercialization across the whole industry, and effectively addresses uncertainties in technical selection and protocol adaptation.
GB 45672‑2025 specifies comprehensive test requirements for the Automotive Emergency Call System, divided into vehicle‑level and component‑level tests, including general requirements, position information requirements, network connection requirements, trigger requirements, information and functional requirements, hands‑free call performance requirements, shock resistance requirements and EMC performance requirements. Functional verification of Minimum Set of Data (MSD) and emergency voice call shall be performed during and/or after tests. Under general requirements, the standard defines three types of abnormal scenarios for MSD and voice services, and specifies test specifications for backup battery durability. Simulation of above‑mentioned scenarios for various transmission protocols is realized via network fluctuation parameters, signaling configuration of R&S comprehensive testers and coordination with simulation platform software.
Through this joint test, the three parties have successfully verified the compliance of Quectel modules, the validity of the R&S test system and the adaptability of the Yuemeng Daokang platform. The integrated AECS test solution consisting of SMBV100B GNSS simulator and CMX500 radio communication tester is adopted to simultaneously verify voice and multi‑protocol data transmission functions. For abnormal scenarios, MSD‑ and voice‑call‑related abnormal conditions as well as backup battery durability are fully tested. This rigorous test employs mainstream domestic automotive modules and simulates major domestic Third‑Party Service Providers (TPSP), comprehensively verifying AECS compliance on both ends and consistency with real‑world commercial scenarios. In the future, the test platform will rapidly converge differentiated requirements to guarantee its universality for mandatory AECS testing.
As a world‑leading communication technology provider, R&S boasts rich experience and technical expertise in emergency call applications and is one of the drafters of the mandatory AECS standard.
