Xenon lamps are electric light sources that emit light via xenon gas discharge. Ultra-high pressure short-arc xenon lamps feature high luminance, compact luminous area, excellent color rendering, near-sunlight spectrum and stable light output, hence they are also known as "artificial little suns".

During ground testing of spacecraft, xenon lamps are adopted in solar simulators to simulate space illumination environments for spacecraft. This technical solution has been widely deployed by numerous aerospace institutions.

In practical tests, xenon lamps must ignite instantly and maintain stable illumination. Generally, xenon lamps require high voltage and low current for ignition; while low voltage and high current are needed for steady-state operation.

Power supplies for xenon lamp operation must cover the peak ignition voltage and maximum steady-state operating current. Conventional power supply solutions require extremely high-power models to meet such operating conditions.
