R&S officially launches the new R&S MXO-K333 three-phase power analysis software option for MXO series oscilloscopes. Integrated with an extensive range of measurement and analysis functions, this software is suitable for the testing and commissioning of three-phase power systems, drives and inverters.
This option is fully compatible with 4-channel and 8-channel oscilloscope models of MXO 3, MXO 4, MXO 5 and MXO 5C series, enabling analysis of voltage and current signals in three-phase AC systems. This innovative test solution keeps acquired waveforms visible throughout measurements, allowing engineers to observe power values and transient behaviors simultaneously on a single instrument. The oscilloscope’s native functions including mathematical operations, spectrum analysis, measurement tracking and zone triggering can still operate in parallel to support in-depth analysis.
The software features a built-in guided setup wizard, which automatically assigns oscilloscope channels to voltage and current probes required for three-phase analysis and verifies wiring connections. It supports common wiring configurations including two-wire, three-wire and four-wire modes (2V2A, 3V3A, 3VN3A). After configuration, the system calculates RMS voltage and current, power factor, active power, reactive power and total power cycle by cycle. Users can also directly calculate three-phase system efficiency by setting input and output parameters. Additional analysis views comprise phasor diagrams, harmonic analysis and total harmonic distortion (THD) measurements compliant with IEC 61000-3-2 and MIL-STD-1399 standards.
As an oscilloscope-based integrated solution, the R&S MXO-K333 enables engineers to correlate three-phase power data with corresponding voltage and current waveforms in real time. This capability is particularly valuable during R&D debugging, facilitating synchronous analysis of power characteristics alongside switching events, transient processes, control signals and communication activities. Users can further leverage built-in functions of the MXO series such as advanced triggering, FFT spectrum analysis, automated measurements, trace functionality and protocol decoding to complete the entire workflow from power measurement to root-cause analysis on a single instrument. The R&S MXO-K333 three-phase power analysis oscilloscope software is now commercially available.
