Rohde & Schwarz (hereinafter referred to as R&S) has successfully passed the certification tests conducted by cetecom advanced for its hybrid emergency call and next-generation emergency call test solutions. As a leading independent test laboratory, cetecom advanced provides product testing and global certification services for equipment in communications, automotive, medical, payment, identification and other industries. Built around the CMX500 radio communication tester and equipped with updated emergency call options, the R&S solution ensures compliance with the latest emergency call regulations and standards.
The hybrid emergency call test specification EN 18052 mandates that hybrid systems combine multiple transmission paths and protocols to guarantee reliable delivery of emergency calls. In practical application, vehicles adopt next-generation emergency call technology (transmitting voice and data over 4G/5G via IP/IMS), while automatically falling back to legacy circuit-switched emergency call transmission (2G/3G) when network coverage or service quality deteriorates. Manufacturers need to verify their hybrid deployment schemes, ensuring that the system can initiate calls, transmit Minimum Set of Data (MSD), maintain GNSS positioning, and deliver intelligible voice quality under diverse network scenarios, including NR Voice, LTE Voice and Circuit-Switched Fallback. The tests must verify system robustness during handovers and under degraded wireless conditions while complying with requirements laid down by CEN, ETSI, 3GPP and relevant national authorities.
R&S has upgraded its emergency call evaluation solution CMX-KA09x to meet EN 18052:2025 and EN 17240:2024+A1:2026. The CMX-KA099 option has passed PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) test scenarios defined by EN 18052:2025, and the CMX-KA098 option has completed PSAP tests in line with EN 17240:2024+A1:2026. This represents a major milestone in meeting European requirements for next-generation emergency call test systems.
