The m-SAS Series is a lightweight solar array simulator developed by AMETEK Elgar™ exclusively for CubeSats and small satellites, part of the NEXSIM space power simulation product family. It adopts a 1U rack-mounted single-channel design with 840W rated output, equipped with high-speed DSP digital control chips. Featuring low output capacitance and 250Hz high closed-loop bandwidth, it perfectly matches high-speed MPPT maximum power point tracking algorithms of small satellites. The unit supports custom editing of high-resolution I-V curves and a dedicated solar eclipse simulation mode to replicate alternating light/shadow orbital conditions of LEO satellites; test speed can be accelerated up to 100× real orbit speed to drastically shorten ground verification cycles of power systems. Standard configurations include active PFC and LAN Ethernet port, with dedicated PC GUI software and SCPI command remote control. Widely applied to R&D, aging and reliability testing of small satellite power controllers, battery charge-discharge systems and onboard PCDU. Compared with traditional large spacecraft solar simulators, it features smaller footprint, lower cost and superior space compatibility.
