The Fluke 2042 is a professional universal cable locator kit consisting of a signal transmitter and receiver, supporting tracing of both live and de-energized cables. Designed for R&D maintenance and fault diagnosis of wall embedded wires, underground buried cables, floor heating wiring, TV, industrial display and control cabinet circuits, it rapidly locates cable open-circuit and short-circuit faults, and can also trace metallic water pipes and heating pipes.

Adopting digitally coded signal transmission technology, the unit clearly distinguishes signals from multiple parallel cables to eliminate misjudgment caused by surrounding circuit interference. The transmitter is equipped with an LCD screen to real-time display transmission level, signal code and external voltage; the receiver features a backlit LCD to visually show received signal strength, code identification and live wire warning. A built-in torch lamp on the receiver enables operation in dark environments such as dim equipment rooms and ceiling cavities. Supplied with a portable carrying case, the complete kit can be seamlessly integrated into existing test setups for production lines, laboratories and construction sites.
