HIOKI has officially released the AC/DC Current Probe CT6847A, a clamp-on current sensor that supports high-precision power measurement. This product was developed to meet the high-current measurement needs of large electric commercial vehicles such as buses, trucks and construction machinery during certification testing.
Vehicle certification testing requires measurement of vehicle energy consumption. HIOKI’s power measuring instruments, including power analyzers, and clamp-on current sensors have been widely adopted around the world as measuring instruments that meet strict test accuracy requirements. Currently, electric vehicles, including BEVs and HEVs, are expanding into large vehicles such as trucks and construction machinery, where instantaneous currents may exceed 1000 A during operation.
At development sites where installation in the complete vehicle is required, current sensors must be able to measure large currents while maintaining the existing shape and size. HIOKI has a proven track record of providing customers with customized current sensors.
Against this background, and in response to the recent trend toward higher power in electric vehicles, HIOKI has added a new model capable of measuring DC 2000 A to its clamp-on current sensor lineup.
The CT6847A is a clamp-on current sensor that supports measurement of DC 2000 A and AC 1400 A rms. Like existing models, it features a wide operating temperature range and can ensure high measurement accuracy when used in combination with HIOKI power measuring instruments.
In addition, considering the need for installation inside narrow vehicle interiors crowded with cables, the sensor retains the compact size of previous models.
