As R&D in the electric vehicle and energy sectors continues to accelerate, accurate and efficient temperature measurement has become a core requirement for engineers. HIOKI has officially launched two thermistor modules — the direct-connect U8557 and the wireless LR8537 — together with the newly released next-generation measurement data software GENNECT Space. From hardware acquisition to software analysis, this solution upgrades the entire workflow and provides a one-stop solution for temperature measurement and data processing in the automotive, industrial and energy fields.

The U8557 and LR8537 are 15-channel thermistor/resistance measurement modules that support a maximum measurement range of 200 kΩ, with a high-speed data update interval of 50 ms and 16-bit A/D resolution.

Users can register the resistance-temperature characteristics of thermistors in the LR8450 or LR8450-01, converting resistance values into real-time temperature readings. The devices support multiple characteristic formulas and are compatible with various types of thermistors widely used in the industry. By combining multiple modules, users can achieve:

  • U8557: When used with the LR8450 Series, it supports up to 60 channels of thermistor measurement.
  • LR8537: When used with the LR8450-01 in a wireless configuration, it supports up to 165 channels of thermistor measurement.

All channels can be updated at 50 ms intervals, which is more than 10 times faster than conventional benchtop digital multimeters (DMMs). This enables data acquisition synchronized with typical BMS update cycles. It is especially efficient for battery-level component evaluation before BMS installation, as well as verification and testing tasks involving BMS behavior.

The modules can also be combined with other LR8450/LR8450-01 Series modules, such as thermocouple modules, to build a flexible temperature measurement platform that supports multiple sensor types.

  4. High-density temperature measurement on test benches
    Visualization of transient thermal characteristics through high-speed, multi-channel acquisition.
  5. Wireless temperature measurement scenarios (LR8537)
    Suitable for monitoring scenarios where wiring is difficult or mobility is required.

GENNECT Space is an integrated measurement data platform that centrally manages data from compatible devices. It supports synchronized viewing of numerical signals, video and location information on a unified timeline. This allows teams to move beyond the limitations of “purely numerical” evaluation, more quickly clarify events, occurrence times and corresponding operating conditions, and then form analysis conclusions and optimize decisions more efficiently.

Compatible Instruments and Future Expansion

In the initial version, GENNECT Space supports high-precision power analyzers and selected data acquisition instruments. HIOKI plans to gradually expand the range of compatible products, aiming to build GENNECT Space into the core data hub that connects HIOKI’s entire measurement ecosystem.

GENNECT Space is not just a PC application. It is a comprehensive platform integrating measurement and in-depth analysis, supporting the full workflow from evaluation and analysis to report generation.
